Ruth Roman was born on June 22nd, 1939, on June 22, 1939 in Lynn Massachusetts. She is the youngest child of Lithuanian Jewish parents Mary Pauline Gold & Abraham Roman. After her father died in the role of a carnival barker when Ruth was just a young girl and she was forced to provide for the family by working as a cook and server. Ruth grew in a poor Boston Tenement area in Massachusetts. She attended school in the area. Her school was closed in two years, to go into acting. Her chosen path proved to be filled with challenges and in New York, she obtained the opportunity to pose as stills in a magazine for crime, but theatrical work eluded her. Then, she worked as an hat-checker at a night club before calling her quits and relocating to Boston. She made enough money by working as an usher during the day while in the evening, she performed in the New England Repertory Company, her first regular acting gig. The study of drama helped her to receive a degree in the Bishop-Lee Theatre School.
